We're very happy to help you in any way we can. Below are some of the questions most frequently asked of our personnel. If you don't find what you're looking for, please drop by or give us a call.
What are school hours?
School begins at 8:50 a.m. and finishes at 3:45 p.m. We have early release on every Monday at 2:15 p.m. We look forward to seeing you each day!
What should I do if my child must be absent?
By law, if your child is absent, you must contact the school office to notify us. Then, upon the child's return, bring a signed and dated note to the school office stating why the child was absent.
If I need to take my child out of school early, what steps should I follow?
Check in with the front office to let us know you want to take your student out of school early. Once you arrive in our office, we will notify the classroom teacher to send your student to the office. We will not dismiss students to walk alone to either go home or to appointments. You must be present to check out your child.
What meals does the cafeteria serve and what does it cost?

We know that breakfast is the most important part of the day. That is why at Yuma School District One, we offer breakfast at no cost. We serve breakfast promptly at 8:20 a.m. We also offer lunch to all students at no cost.
When students bring a sack lunch from home, they may purchase a juice or milk for 50 cents to go with their meal.
What personal items should a student not take to school?
Please do not bring the following items to school: iPods, iPads, tablets, electronics of any kind, expensive jewelry, large sums of money, sporting equipment, or toys.
What if my child loses a belonging?
We try our best to return lost items to students, but we need your help. When possible, please label your children's coats, sweaters, lunch pails, and anything else you want to be returned to you, if lost.
Can my child ride a bike or scooter to school?
Yes, we allow students in grades 2-5 to ride bikes and/or scooters to school. City law does require your student to wear a helmet for safety reasons. We also have bike racks available to secure the bikes or scooters. Students must provide their own lock. C.W. McGraw is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged bikes.
Can my child ride a skateboard or rollerblades?
We do NOT allow skateboards or rollerblades at school.
Is there transportation available?
No, we have no transportation available. Students may walk or parents can pick up and drop off students.
My child needs to take medication daily. How will you make sure he/she receives it?
Please properly label all medication and keep it in the school health office. Only our school nurse hands out the medicine to a student. Prescription medicines must be prescribed by a doctor and have documentation telling how much and how often the student must take the medicine. Please be sure to contact the health office ahead of time if you want your child taking over-the-counter medicines, too.
When do grades come out?
Grades are released at the end of each quarter: October, January, March, and May.
Back to TopDo students have access to the Internet at school?
Yes. All classrooms are equipped with Internet access, and we want you to use this resource responsibly. Each parent and student must sign a permission slip, which tells us you are willing to follow the guidelines of good conduct when using the Internet in the classroom.
What is the dress code?
- Students can wear any solid colored tops as long as they have no graphics or text.
- Students can wear khaki, black, or denim bottoms. No ripped jeans/shorts.
- Students can wear McGraw spirit shirts.
